Race Recap: Tuna Run 200 Relay, Friday, October 20-Saturday, October 21, 2017

In January of 2017, while I was trying to figure out my fall marathon (Marine Corps? Wineglass? Richmond?), a friend and her husband asked me if I would like to be part of their twelve person team for the Tuna Run.  After thinking about it for a day or two, I decided that this was definitely something that I wanted to do, at least once, and that this would be a great group of people to join for this weekend of fun.  That made my marathon choice for the fall easy: the Tuna Run would take place during the same weekend as the Marine Corps Marathon, so I would opt out of that and maybe try to get in by lottery in 2018.  The Wineglass Marathon in Corning, New York, seems like an awesome race to experience, but the distance makes it logistically hard for someone who has very limited time off from work.  The Richmond Marathon was my first back in 2015 and holds a special place in my heart for that reason; it’s a great race and almost local, only three hours away.  Ultimately, I decided on the Tuna Run and the Richmond Marathon, three weeks apart and both good races to look forward to throughout training in 2017.
